FAQ

  • POINTS TO CONSIDER WITH REGARDS TO TERMITE PROTECTION FOR YOUR HOME.
  • 1. Does the Termite Management system stop Termites entering your home or merely divert their path?
  • 2. If it only diverts their path to a visually exposed external face of the building does it create the crucial Building Code of Australia specified Inspection Zone that is required to ensure the success of this system when carrying out the
inspections as specified on the sticker in the electricity meter box.

  • WHAT IS THE PRINCIPLE OF THE TERMCOAT TERMITE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ?
  • Termcoat is designed to create the termite barrier around the perimeter of the building to prevent termites from migrating from subterranean areas into the structural regions of the building. This is achieved by applying Termcoat to the exposed masonry surface of the building and installing into the wall cavity in the difficult areas.
Termcoat is a liquid adhesive, water repellent coating applied on site penetrating the surfaces setting to form a clear Termite Resistant Surface Barrier against targeted termite migration over or through surfaces to which it is applied including the wall cavity and can be applied during or after completion of the building construction.
Termcoat is applied only onto those areas of the building that require the termite protection and the active ingredient is retained in that position by the adhesive and water resistant properties of the product.
Repels termite migration over all surfaces to which it is applied creating the required inspection zone with the added benefit of converting the area into a termite barrier.

HOW LONG WILL THE PRODUCT LAST ?
Providing the Termcoat Sealant is applied and maintained in accordance with the Termcoat
instructions the Termcoat product will continue providing termite protection for the lifetime of the building.

WHEN CAN TERMCOAT BE APPLIED ?
Termcoat can be applied in one attendance during or upon completion of the building thereby avoiding any damage during construction or downtime. It can be applied as a retrofit or to
compliment existing termite management systems including creating the required inspection zone and also has the advantage that it can be reapplied at any time during the lifetime of the building.

DOES TERMCOAT COMPLY WITH ALL REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS ?
Termcoat meets all necessary requirements of the Building Code of Australia and has APVMA and Codemark certification

    APVMA: 64218/47884      CODEMARK:  CMA-CM40086 (Rev 2)

    CAN ANYONE INSTALL TERMCOAT ?
To ensure Termcoat is installed correctly and is effective it must be installed by a skilled licenced Pest Controller who has been fully trained and accredited with a comprehensive understanding of what is required to give the building the correct protection.

HOW DO I KNOW TERMCOAT HAS BEEN APPLIED ?
Due to water resistant nature of Termcoat simply apply water to the treated area. Water will be repelled on treated areas and soak in on untreated areas often indicated by discoloration of untreated areas. Example:Minimum installation time only carried out by accredited licensed pest controllers
  • Installs the mandatory visual inspection zone on the external face of the building Compliments existing sheet barriers by creating the termite resistant inspection zone Applied on completion of the construction (avoiding delay, inconvenience or compromise to trades people and builder)
  • Will not affect the integrity of the building
  • Forms a full perimeter and masonry termite barrier where applied
  • Product transparent eliminating unsightly or obstructive areas on the external face of the building.
  • Area always accessible allowing for repair, maintenance and building additions.
  • CSIRO tested and approved
  • APVMA  approved 64218/47844
  • Code mark certificate of conformity CMA-CM40086 (Rev 2)
  • Complies with Australian/new Zealand standards on termites, www.jas-anz.org/register
  • Meets all relevant building code of Australia and Australian standards 3660 series Requirements

Block has been exposed unprotected to the elements for many years. Treated side protected, untreated side has normal degradation.
Discoloration highlighted with the absorption of water whilst treated side remains unaffected.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST ?
Termcoat installation costs are very competitive and have significant advantages over other
Termite management systems as a result of the versatility of the product and ease of
installation. A major benefit of Termcoat is that whereas other methods require additional costs to eradicate Termites when they invade the building Termcoat repellency stops the termites from accessing the building.
A STAND ALONE PERIMETER TERMITE BARRIER AND INSPECTION ZONE IN ONE APPLICATION

DOES IT STOP TERMITES ?
Termites are repelled from all the areas that Termcoat has been applied thereby providing a
barrier to prevent termite migration into the building.

IS FINISHED PRODUCT UNSIGHTLY ON THE OUTSIDE OF BUILDING ?
Termcoat is designed as a clear finished sealant that blends in with the original finish on new
construction to retain the aesthetics of the building.

HOW DOES TERMCOAT PROVIDE THE INSPECTION ZONE?
When applied from the concrete slab continuously to 75mm above finished ground level
Termcoat provides a complete perimeter termite barrier and the required inspection zone
alleviating the necessity of any additional perimeter termite protection.
Termcoat can also be used to create the required inspection zone on existing installations by
attaching onto the marginal edge of existing installation and continuing either up or down or bridging continuously for 75mm to obtain the required inspection zone distance.
This can be especially beneficial in areas where there are pathways, driveways etc. The cavity
application can also assist to achieve the correct distance of the inspection zone
.
WHAT IS EFFECT ON THE BUILDER?
Termcoat can be applied on completion of the building thereby ensuring all finished clearances and distances are within the specifications of the Building Code of Australia.
Termcoat complies with the requirements of the Building Code of Australia in forcing the
termites to a visually exposed face of the building where termites must cross or pass over the full distance of the required inspection zone to allow for visual detection. Unlike other methods Termcoat due to its termite repellency also converts this inspection zone into a barrier deterring termites from migrating over the surface and into the building.
Complies with or exceeds all the regulatory authority requirements and has CodeMark approval
Cures to a clear finish avoiding unsightly 75mm inspection zone on exposed face of building.
Retains adhesion eliminating drummy tiles, window and door sills and allows uninterrupted and continuous uniform construction of masonry mortar and retains the maximum inspection zone distance.
Can be applied to all masonry surfaces including render and painted surfaces
Creates a complete perimeter termite management system avoiding the necessity for
additional installations or cavity physical management systems.
Can be applied or replenished at any time including when carrying out additions or repairs.
Can be used to rectify existing termite invasion including wall cavity protection.
Cost effective with the additional advantage of providing a termite management system and a termite barrier in one application for the one fee.
Meets the Queensland requirement of 50 year design life as Termcoat can be reapplied at any time.
The majority of Physical Termite management systems including bait stations are generally a method of monitoring to detect termite activity and require additional work to eradicate the
termite infestation. They do not prevent termites from entering the building. Without the
required inspection zones or modules and the building owner ensuring regular inspections are carried out and eradicating termites upon detection these systems do not prevent termite
infestation in the building.
